Gladys Smith passed away at home early Saturday Morning Dec 5th, 2015. I called 911 who after rescue efforts pronounced her dead. I was told by 911 people that a funeral home was needed, and in my shock and grief I said to just call closest one. Now the guys that showed up from Trostel, Chapman, and all these other names were not very nice and all over me about how I had to be there at noon, which they repeated very mean. Noon we said, noon. ..Now in my grief I called and was told that was wrong and I did not have to come up until Monday. This was an older man and he was OK, as I came up Monday to sign papers and pay for things. I was told they needed cash up front, which I came up with...Then this old man was off the rest of the week. His younger partner didn't do a thing the entire week. When the older man returned a week later, he apologized and he then contacted coroner and such. ....So the ashes and death certificate were delayed into a second week due the lack of interest on the part of the younger partner. ....If a funeral home is to make things easier, this one made things harder in my time of grief from the nasty guys that showed up to the house, to the man taking a week off and nobody else doing anything. ...I have been told by others that this funeral home does not demand full payment up front and will work out payments, but this WAS NOT the way they treated me.....I would have liked to have did more for Gladys, the love of my life for 20 years until death we did part, but their cash on the barrel head the moment Gladys died limited me on what I could do. ....People in New Carlisle love this place, I can not echo or share the warmth for this funeral home. In my grief they only succeeded in making the grief harder, not easier. I don't have much nice to say about them. .....Kevin W. Kelly
